Mahindra & Mahindra will be making their presence felt at the 2012 Auto Expo with a range of cars on display. The company will be showcasing the India-bound Ssangyong Rexton SUV and the Korando crossover.
The Rexton is an off-roader that comes with a 2.7-litre direct-injected diesel engine which develops 184 PS of power and 402 Nm of torque. The seven-seater SUV is expected to hit our roads in the third quarter of 2012 and will be loaded with safety features like Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, Enhanced Parking Brake Technology, Forward Collision Warning and Avoidance System, ABS with EBD, ESP and SRS airbags as standard equipment. Customers will be able to choose between a five-speed manual gearbox and an automatic gearbox. The Rexton is going to be priced at around Rs. 17 lakhs.
The Korando is Ssangyong’s take on a compact crossover with contemporary styling to appeal to the urban SUV buyer. The Korando will likely be available with a 2-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine developing around 175PS of power and 360Nm of torque. Both automatic and manual transmission variants should be available.
Expect the adaptable four-wheel and two-wheel drive systems as on the Korean models, with ABD with EBD, ESP and airbags as standard. Features may include automatic climate control with dual air-conditioning. The Ssangyong Korando could be available at a price of Rs. 14-15 lakhs.
